ABOUT

When I was a little boy, my grandfather used to take me to the cinema almost every Sunday. Later in life, I decided that he did not just want to watch films: I wanted to be part in making them, and I wanted to tell my stories through film.

Born and raised near Bergamo, Italy,  I moved to the Netherlands in 2012, where I followed a BA in Liberal Arts at University College Roosevelt in Middelburg, combining my life long passion for history with courses in film & media studies, creative writing, and musicology. Next to my curriculars, I worked on several film and video projects, and was chairman of the student filmmaking society for one year.

In 2016, I moved to London to pursue an MA in Filmmaking at the London Film School. During my time at the LFS, I received an intense practical training in all aspects of filmmaking, and had the chance to get experience in a wide variety of roles in almost every department. This led me to specialise in directing and cinematography. I graduated in summer 2019 with the short film Meidagen (Days of May), which premiered at the Film by the Sea International Film Festival in Vlissingen and has since screened and won awards in countries all around the world, including Italy, Portugal, Australia, Brasil and France.

Other films made while at the LFS include my first short UB-13, which screened at the legendary Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and at the Imperial War Museum in London amont other venues, and two graduation films as a cinematographer: Proschay (dir. Joanns Buncelmanns) and Espacios Vacíos (dir. Stephanie Schieber Lorenesi), selected in the Student Etudes Panorama section at Camerimage 2020, among several other festivals.

Since graduating from film school, I have been working within the industry in different capacities: I produced short films including after a room (dir. Naomi Pacifique) winner of the Pardino d'Argento at the 74th Locarno Film Festival; I worked in the camera and lighting departments in various projects; I worked as Art Department Coordinator on major HETV dramas and feature films. All while developing various shorts and feature-length projects of my own.

I am interested in a wide range of film styles and topics, and especially in films with a strong visual impact. I am particularly interested in stories set in our past, and I have a passion for the look and workflow of celluloid film. I want to tell his own stories, but I love the collaboratory nature of filmmaking and I am very keen on helping other filmmakers achieve their vision. I am fluent in English, Italian and Dutch.

Whenever I can, I still goes to the cinema with my grandfather.
